Reiki-Seichim
Reiki
as a healing art has been with us for hundreds of years, having
been originated in the early 1800s in Japan by Dr. Usui.
The
healing art of Reiki sends the Universal Life Force energy, also
known as Chi (Chinese), Ki (Japanese), and Ka (Egyptian), to certain
areas in the body. This energy is of a higher vibration and as it
courses through the physical body, it raises the vibration of all
the cells in that body. This promotes balance and health in not
only the physical body, but also in the emotional, mental, and spiritual
bodies.
During
the Reiki session you remain completely clothed. The Reiki Practitioner
typically will be gently laying her/his hands on you, starting at
your head and working down to your feet. Often the Practitioner
will be guided to perform the healing in one of your energy bodies,
in which case they would not be touching you but would instead be
working at a distance above your body. If you are not comfortable
being touched, the Reiki session is also effective when done in
the energy bodies.
You
may experience deep relaxation during the session, and may even
fall asleep. When the session is complete, you may feel energized
or very peaceful and calm. Because this is energy work, you will
be thirsty after the session, and possibly for several days following
the session. Drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to honor
your body's request and drink only pure (not tap) water. The water
will flush out any toxins that are being released as a part of the
healing process. When your body is sufficiently hydrated, the cells
in your body can communicate more clearly and efficiently, which
promotes faster healing.
Certain
sacred symbols will be used during the session to enhance and focus
the energy where it is most needed.
Reiki
can also be done long distance. As with all healing and spiritual
work permission from the person who is to receive the healing is
required.
